In an insurance-based clinic, we found there were many limitations that dictated what care we could deliver. When a PT is seeing 15+ patients a day, delivering individualized care is nearly impossible. This model allows us to deliver individually tailored, family-centered care without a third party determining what we are able to do and for how long. With this model, we are able to spend extended time preparing for sessions, conducting our sessions, traveling and creating a detailed summary after each visit to keep your family on track. This is in addition to development of tailored, family-centered plans of care for each individual patient. This model is what allows us to ensure maximal success for your family!

But if you goal is to find individualized, tailored, patient-centered care, where your therapist gets to determine what you need rather a third party, then you are in the right place. We are transparent with our pricing and will never give you unexpected bills. We know your time and money is valuable! We are here to fully invest in your health and help you arrive at your goals without a third party dictating our time, treatment and plan of care.

Some insurances may provide out-of-network reimbursement for this speciality area of physical therapy. I can provide you with detailed invoices/superbills for your convenience. Be sure to inquire with your specific insurance about requirements.

  • Evaluations are 75-90 minutes.
    Treatments are 50-60 minutes.
Virtual coaching sessions are 40-45 minutes.

  • Initial evaluations consist of subjective gathering for history and present concerns, followed by a physical assessment of movement patterns and muscle coordination. Treatments center around interventions that will target the deficits found in the evaluation. At some point in the plan of care, pelvic floor assessment may be indicated. For children, this includes external observation of the pelvic floor and reflex testing. It’s important to note that pelvic floor rehab for kiddos never involves internal assessments. For female adults, internal exams may be indicated and will be discussed if necessary.

We bring all materials for all of our sessions and discuss how to optimize a space before a session. We also follow up each session with a summary email to explain what we did, the day’s findings and outline your home program to ensure clarity.

  • Pelvic floor physical therapy for kids is a highly specialized niche of physical therapy specifically for treating children with pelvic floor conditions and dysfunctions. This includes constipation, urinary and fecal incontinence, bedwetting, withholding behaviors, pelvic or abdominal pain and sensory difficulties with potty training. Pediatric pelvic floor rehab utilizes treatment centered around purposeful play and muscle coordination to establish or restore healthy bowel/bladder habits, target muscle imbalances and enhance body awareness/control. We provide families with the necessary materials and education to ensure the best chance at success when treating conditions that can place a massive amount of distress on a child and their families.

  • We work with all ages of kiddos! From a colicky infant struggling with constipation to your 16 year old struggling with pelvic pain! The most common age for these concerns are children ages 4-9.

  • This varies largely from child to child as each child’s presentation and history is vastly different. On average, children require sessions over 6-12 months with a frequency ranging from weekly to monthly. This is an average; it is not concrete and largely depends on your child’s needs.

  • You and your child’s comfort is our #1 priority. Much of the first session is comfort and rapport-building with you and your child. Many pelvic floor related questions will be answered in the intake forms that are completed prior to the first session. At the first sessions, we often rely on parents’ information to reduce the pressure on the child. We communicate to your child that we are simply working on muscle movement, getting stronger and being aware of what our bodies are doing. Our vocabulary will expand as they are comfortable. External pelvic assessments, if indicated, are only performed once the child is comfortable, typically at a subsequent session, and always with a parent present. We discuss extensively with your child why we are doing this treatment to ensure they are understanding. With time and discussion, we find your child will often begin to lead the conversation as they become more connected to their body.
